Yes, JLC can, like always, provide a very smart solution to a complicated problem. The solution by JLC is clever, cost effective and useful indeed. I like it because I regard JLC as a useful functional watch.
People who travel a lot between timezones and during DST regions will, nevertheless, know that sommer time is a hour ahead. Therefore, even without the highlight (e.g. -s in the JLC example), we can easily adjust the watch to show the time of the city before (in terms of time) the city you are. I guess most people will not feel it too confusing.
As far as a Patek worldtimer is concerned, I prefer personally the current (5110) dial more. When I (well, I am talking only about myself) buy a Patek Worldtimer, it is the dial design, tradition and workmanship that attract me.
