Take the money and run.
Sure they're no Bernie Madoff, but 10 million dollars is nothing to sneeze at either. Thats the amount of money federalprosecutors charged Roger and Peggy Gamblin of Royal Palm Beach of defrauding consumers and title companies Tuesday.& c0 [* z8 S7 v' |5 I$ } w
The couple owned and ran Flagler Title company which was founded in 1975. Between July 2005 and May 2008, the indictment said, the Gamblins stole escrow money from clients and used it for business and personal expenses. Then in May of 2008, Gamblin took out a $500,000 mortgage on his West Palm Beach home whichhas not beenrepaid, the couple vanished, leaving employees of one of Florida's largest independent title companies to deal with the chaos.) Chicago Title Insurance Co., Flagler's underwriter, has paid out more than $5 million in claims since the Gamblins left town. The company filed a lawsuit to try to recover money from the Gamblins' adult children, Chris and Erik. Gary Dunkel said the Chicago Title lawsuit was filed because the firm "was hoping the kids could locate the father and his wife ... but the father didn't tell them where they are."
